The Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Churches, Paul Adefarasin, has addressed the social media storm surrounding a viral video that showed him in a Lagos traffic encounter.

The clip, which sparked widespread debate, appeared to show the pastor pointing an object at a driver who had recognized him.

In an official statement released on Saturday, Pastor Adefarasin firmly denied allegations that the object was a firearm.

“You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm,” he wrote. “I want to assure you of this — that, that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”

The clergyman characterized the online reaction as a misunderstanding and expressed gratitude for the public’s patience. He indicated that further clarification would be provided during the church’s Sunday service.

“We understand the concern that this accusation may have caused, and we will speak briefly to this mischief during the 9:00 am service tomorrow,” he added.

While the statement did not specify the nature of the object in question or provide full context of the traffic incident, Pastor Adefarasin concluded with words of encouragement to his congregation. He expressed confidence that his followers were “winning and on top of the tests of life,” signing off with appreciation.
