The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, has vowed to defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke in a landslide during the August 8, 2026, election, dismissing claims of propaganda as irrelevant.
Speaking at the APC youths reconciliation summit held at the party secretariat in Osogbo yesterday, Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, urged party members, particularly the youth, to actively counter the negative narratives being spread against the APC and his candidacy.
He encouraged them to engage in grassroots mobilization, going “door-to-door, house-to-house and on the street.”
He stated, “Our opponents have started lying to the Osun people. You must break asunder their lies. We are taking over by 2026. Don’t be afraid, no one will do anything against you.”
He further reassured supporters, “I want to assure you that 2026 will not be like 2022. We should work very well.” Oyebamiji, a former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), highlighted the critical role of youths in securing electoral victory, urging them to “own the project with a view to delivering success to the party.”
Meanwhile, the Osun State government has dismissed claims by consulting firm Sally Tibbot Limited that 8,452 workers on the state payroll were “ghost workers.” The government stated that a re-validation exercise revealed only 1,316 unaccounted-for employees and pensioners.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment described the consulting firm’s press briefing as a veiled attempt to pressure the state into accepting an inflated audit.
He explained that many of the flagged workers were legitimate staff and retirees, noting that the firm had neither sought proof of employment nor requested payment based on the overstated figures.
Sally Tibbot Consulting, hired in January 2023 for a staff audit, had claimed that Osun was paying ghost workers N13,716,914,129.28 annually.
The firm had labeled 8,448 workers as ghost retirees without contacting them to verify their absence. Following the government’s re-evaluation, 8,015 of these workers were confirmed active, leaving only 433 unreachable.
Reacting to the ongoing controversy, Allied Peoples Movement governorship candidate in Osun, Adewale Adebayo, described Adeleke’s defence as “evasive and contradictory.”
