Tension as APC Deputy Governorship Candidate Visits Adewusi’s Polling Unit
Tension briefly erupted at the polling unit of the Osun State Deputy Governor and Accord Party deputy governorship candidate, Prince Kola Adewusi, in Ile-Ife during Saturday’s governorship election.
The Punch reported that the disturbance occurred after the All Progressives Congress deputy governorship candidate, Benjamin Kayode Adereti, arrived at the polling location.
Adereti had reportedly voted earlier at his designated polling unit, Waasin Polling Unit 11, Ilaare Ward 3, before heading to Adewusi’s polling unit.
His arrival reportedly drew opposition from some of Adewusi’s supporters who were present at the location, leading to a heated exchange between the groups.
The confrontation temporarily disrupted the otherwise calm atmosphere at the polling unit, with supporters exchanging words as tension mounted.
The reason for Adereti’s visit to the deputy governor’s polling unit was not immediately known as of the time of filing the report.
However, his arrival appeared to unsettle some of Adewusi’s supporters and contributed to the confrontation.
The situation was subsequently captured on video at the polling location.
