‘Osimhen is best striker in the world’ — S’Eagles coach

Super Eagles head coach, Éric Chelle, has hailed Victor Osimhen as the best striker in the world following Nigeria’s commanding 4-0 triumph over the Benin Republic in Uyo on Tuesday, a crucial matchday 10 clash in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“I’m so proud of my players. They deserve this win. It was not easy, a new coach, a new philosophy, but they adapted fast,” Chelle said.

“Especially the best striker in the world, Osimhen. They gave everything. For me, they are my champions,” he added during a post-match media session.

With the group stage concluded, the Super Eagles are now preparing for the playoffs, where they will face Cameroon, Gabon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“Now we go to Morocco, it’s going to be very difficult. This is the start, and I am proud of everyone, even the fans, because they pushed us,” Chelle remarked, expressing confidence ahead of the upcoming fixtures.

Osimhen was in stellar form, scoring twice in the first half and adding another after the break, cementing his reputation as one of the game’s most lethal forwards.

Chelle’s praise for his squad extended beyond Osimhen, describing all his players as champions.
