Taiwo Fasoranti has resigned from his position as Secretary to the State Government in Ondo State to pursue his ambition of representing Ondo Central Senatorial District in the Senate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fasoranti announced his decision in a statement, saying his interest in the senatorial race was driven by “a deep sense of responsibility, a lifelong commitment to public service and an unwavering belief in the immense potential of our people.”
The former SSG said his years in the medical profession and public service had prepared him for the task of representing the people of Ondo Central at the national level.
“Having spent over three decades serving humanity in the medical profession, I have come to understand that true leadership is anchored on compassion, discipline, and the ability to respond to the real needs of the people,” he said.
Fasoranti noted that his experience at the State House Medical Centre in Abuja, where he rose to the directorate cadre before retiring in 2024, as well as his role in health sector administration and service as SSG, gave him valuable knowledge of governance and policy implementation.
He said, “These experiences have strengthened my capacity to contribute meaningfully to national development, while ensuring that the voices of Ondo Central are effectively represented.”
The former government official said he was motivated by the desire to promote people-centred representation and consolidate the dividends of democracy across communities in the district.
“I believe that governance must be practical, inclusive and impactful, touching lives in tangible ways and creating opportunities for growth and development,” he stated.
Fasoranti also pledged to provide purposeful representation if elected, promising to listen to the aspirations of the people and translate them into action at the national level.
He appealed for the support, trust and prayers of residents across the six local government areas that make up Ondo Central Senatorial District, including Ondo West, Ondo East, Ifedore, Akure South, Akure North and Idanre.
“As I step forward in this journey, I do so with a clear vision: to provide purposeful representation, to listen to the aspirations of our people, and to translate those aspirations into meaningful action at the national level,” he said.
