NYSC begins physical verification for foreign graduates

FG suspends accreditation of degree certificates from Benin Republic, Togo

The National Youth Service Corps has begun the physical verification of credentials and travel documents for Nigerian graduates who studied abroad and registered for the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Service Year.

The verification exercise, which runs from Monday, November 10, to Wednesday, November 12, 2025, is taking place at designated NYSC secretariats, orientation camps, and selected military formations across the country.

In a statement issued by the NYSC Management, the Corps explained that the exercise is for foreign-trained prospective corps members whose documents are yet to be physically checked after completing their online registration.

According to the statement, the date, time, and venue shown on each prospective corps member’s verification slip must be strictly followed to ensure orderliness and avoid overcrowding at the centres.

“All prospective corps members are expected to appear with the original copies of the credentials and travel documents they uploaded during registration,” the NYSC said.

The Corps also noted that medical professionals such as doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and other allied health graduates must upload and present their professional licences and registration certificates from their regulatory bodies in addition to their academic documents.

The agency further clarified that foreign-trained graduates who obtained their degrees from institutions requiring official recognition must submit the original copies of their Evaluation Letters from the Federal Ministry of Education at the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja, and upload the acknowledged copies online.

Reiterating the importance of the exercise, NYSC stressed that no foreign-trained graduate will be deployed, exempted, or excluded from service without completing the physical verification.

“Only individuals who are physically sighted, verified, and cleared will be mobilized for national service,” the statement added.

The Corps had earlier extended the online registration deadline for Batch ‘C’ by 48 hours following network challenges reported by applicants.

The extension is expected to end by midnight on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
