The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has cautioned Nigerians to be wary of circulating reports claiming that the agency is recruiting new staff, describing them as scams designed to defraud job seekers.
In a statement shared on its official X handle on Monday, NMDPRA said fraudulent individuals have been taking advantage of unemployed Nigerians by offering “false employment opportunities, issuing bogus letters of employment, and demanding large sums of money from hopeful applicants.”
The agency clarified that “the NMDPRA is NOT conducting any recruitment exercise currently. Neither is the Agency undertaking any kind of employment in its services at any level.
It added that any genuine recruitment would follow the established procedures for employment in the Nigerian Public Service.
NMDPRA urged the public to ignore all fake advertisements and verify any claims through its official channels.
“For current and up-to-date information regarding all our activities, kindly refer to our official corporate website: www.nmdpra.gov.ng and our verified social media outlets on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram,” the statement said.
The authority warned that these fraudulent activities not only cheat unsuspecting citizens but also “damage the reputation of the agency,” calling on Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious recruitment offers.
