Truck Transit Parks operators of the Electronic Call-up System,, have disclosed that inefficiencies within Nigeria’s maritime transport and logistics chain have cost the country more than N2.5 trillion.
The company emphasized that sustained investment in modern transport infrastructure and digital technology is crucial to unlocking the vast trade opportunities across Nigeria’s ports, highways, and regional corridors.
Speaking at the 2025 annual conference of the Transportation Correspondents Association, TTP’s Managing Director, Mr. Jama Onwubuariri, stressed the need for stronger collaboration between government, private investors, and regional stakeholders, describing such partnerships as vital to the growth of the logistics sector.
Onwubuariri highlighted the impact of TTP’s Ètò App on port operations in Lagos, noting that the deployment of digital solutions has brought significant improvement to traffic management around the ports.
He recalled the chaotic scenes before the system’s introduction, “During the gridlock crisis, traffic stretched from Cele Expressway to Maryland in Ikeja, as trucks queued endlessly to access Apapa and Tin-Can Ports. Cost surged due to inefficiencies and extortion as transporters could not work efficiently as only 50 trucks were evacuated daily from one terminal operator.”
