The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed the appointment of former internationals, Joy Jegede-Idakwo and Aighewi Omodiaghe as assistant coaches of the national U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos.
In addition, former Nigeria goalkeeper Kola Ige has been named as the team’s goalkeepers’ trainer.
Jegede-Idakwo, who once captained the Falconets and also earned multiple appearances for the Super Falcons, brings leadership experience to the technical crew.
Omodiaghe, meanwhile, was part of the Flamingos squad that made history at the maiden edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2008 in New Zealand.
The trio will work under head coach Akeem Ishola Busari as the Flamingos prepare for the upcoming qualifiers for this year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, with the ambition of improving on the team’s third-place finish achieved by the 2022 squad.
