Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, will return to camp on Sunday ahead of their decisive final-round qualifier against Benin Republic for a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The players and officials are expected to camp at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne as preparations begin for the crucial two-legged encounter.
The team, coached by Akeem Busari, had earlier been given a short break following their dominant performance against Guinea in the previous round.
The Flamingos overwhelmed Guinea 11-0 on aggregate, claiming a 5-0 victory in the first leg before wrapping up qualification with a convincing 6-0 triumph in the second leg.
Benin Republic advanced to the final qualifying round after defeating Sierra Leone 5-1 on aggregate.
The Young Amazons secured a 3-0 away win in the first leg at the Stade de Kegue before completing the job with a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture.
Nigeria will host the first leg of the tie at the Remo Stars Sports Complex between July 3 and 5, while the return leg is scheduled for the Stade de Kegue a week later.
The winner on aggregate will earn a ticket to the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be staged in Morocco from October 17 to November 7, 2026.
