A second individual has now been charged in connection with a series of suspected arson attacks targeting properties and a vehicle reportedly linked to United Kingdom Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Tuesday that 26-year-old Romanian national, Stanislav Carpiuc, faces a charge of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life.
His court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday morning at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
Carpiuc is alleged to have conspired with 21-year-old Ukrainian national, Roman Lavrynovych, who was previously charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life, as well as with unidentified accomplices.
According to police, Carpiuc was apprehended on Saturday at London Luton Airport by counter terrorism officers from the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit.
Another man, aged 34, was arrested in Chelsea on Monday. He is also suspected of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life and remains in police custody.
Lavrynovych, a resident of Sydenham, appeared in court at Westminster Magistrates’ Court last Friday and was remanded in custody. His next appearance is scheduled for 6 June at the Old Bailey.
The alleged incidents began on 8 May, when a vehicle associated with Sir Keir was set on fire during the early hours.
This was followed by another fire in the early hours of 11 May, which affected the front door of a converted house in Islington, a property also connected to the Prime Minister.
The most serious of the incidents occurred around 1.35am on 12 May, when emergency services responded to a fire at an address in Kentish Town.
The fire caused damage to the entrance of the property, a residence where Sir Keir previously lived with his family before moving into 10 Downing Street.
However, authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported during any of the incidents.
