Nations League: England beat 10-man Czech Republic 2-0

England bounced back from their opening Nations League defeat to Spain with a 2-0 victory over 10-man Czechia in Prague on Tuesday.

Anthony Gordon put Thomas Tuchel’s side ahead shortly after half-time, heading in from a precise cross by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who made his return to the England starting line-up.

Czechia were reduced to 10 men in the first half when Pavel Šulc was shown a red card for a high challenge on Elliot Anderson.

England struggled to turn their numerical advantage into goals before Gordon finally broke the deadlock early in the second half.

Harry Kane then doubled the lead in the 71st minute, finishing from close range to secure England’s first points in Group A3.

The victory came after England opened their campaign with a 3-2 home defeat to Spain at Wembley on Saturday, despite taking the lead during the encounter.

Czechia, meanwhile, suffered their second defeat of the campaign after previously losing 2-1 at home to Croatia.

England will next face Croatia on Saturday, while Czechia are scheduled to host Spain later that day.
