The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra has declared that the Igbo people will not support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The secessionist group warned the President to ignore what it called “self-proclaimed Igbo political leaders” who claim to speak for the region’s electorate.

MASSOB leader Uchenna Madu issued the statement on Sunday in response to recent comments by Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who had pledged Igbo support for Tinubu’s second term. Madu dismissed such promises as unrepresentative of grassroots Igbo sentiment, citing what he described as the Tinubu administration’s marginalization of the Southeast.

“MASSOB is reminding President Bola Tinubu that the Southeast region will not support his bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election because your administration has neglected our region, causing significant pain, agony, and feelings of marginalization among our people,” Madu stated.

The group accused Tinubu’s government of failing to address critical regional concerns while maintaining that political elites making supportive statements lack authentic connections to Igbo voters. Madu revealed that Southeast leaders are currently engaged in strategic discussions about political representation ahead of the 2027 polls.

“The ongoing discontent and political dynamics within the Southeast is overwhelming. Ndigbo is seeking greater recognition and support in national governance,” Madu added, emphasizing the need for policies that directly benefit Igbo communities rather than political rhetoric.

This declaration comes amid growing political realignments across Nigeria, with opposition figures exploring potential coalitions ahead of the next general elections. MASSOB’s stance reflects persistent regional grievances in the Southeast, where calls for equitable federal representation and development have intensified in recent years.
