Sadio Mané scored a brilliant hat-trick as Senegal demolished Kenya 8-0 in an international friendly at the Mardan Sports Complex in Antalya, Turkey, on Tuesday, according to Pan-Africa Football.
The embarrassing defeat marks the heaviest loss for Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy since he assumed the role.
Kenya entered the fixture with a poor history against the former African champions, having last met Senegal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Senegal wasted no time asserting dominance, racing to a 3-0 lead inside the opening 15 minutes.
Bayern Munich forward Nicolas Jackson broke the deadlock in the eighth minute, weaving past two defenders before finding the bottom corner.
Just four minutes later, Ibrahim Mbaye teed up El Hadji Malick Diouf for a simple tap-in to double the advantage.
Jackson then struck again in the 14th minute, guiding home Abdoulaye Seck’s cross with ease.
The onslaught continued as Jackson turned provider, setting up Mané for Senegal’s fourth goal in the 17th minute. Mané added his second from the penalty spot in the 30th minute to make it 5-0.
The Liverpool legend completed his hat-trick in the 34th minute, stretching Senegal’s lead to six goals before halftime.
The Lions of Teranga resumed the second half with the same intensity, with Mbaye firing home from close range to make it 7-0 after earlier providing two assists.
Cherif Ndiaye rounded off the demolition in the 80th minute, sealing a commanding 8-0 victory for the West Africans.
