Liverpool reportedly offer Nunez, Chiesa to Napoli for S’Eagles Osimhen

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a bold offer involving Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa in a bid to sign Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

The Reds, fresh off their Premier League title triumph, are eager to reinforce their attack ahead of the new campaign.

Arne Slot, keen to reshape his forward line, sees Osimhen as the ideal striker to partner Mohamed Salah and bolster the club’s goal-scoring threat.

According to Caught Offside, “Nunez is a target for both AC Milan and Napoli this summer, and the Reds hope to take advantage of this desire to acquire the Partenopei forward, Osimhen by also offering Chiesa.”

Osimhen, who had a stellar campaign on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray last season, netted 37 goals in all competitions, a tally that once again showcased his prowess at the highest level. The 26-year-old is expected to make a permanent move away from Napoli this summer.

Nunez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022, has failed to meet expectations. The Uruguay striker managed just seven goals in all competitions last season, prompting the Reds to consider using him as part of a swap deal.

Chiesa, meanwhile, has had a tough start to life at Anfield. Since his transfer from Juventus last summer, the Italy international has struggled with injuries and made just one Premier League start under Slot.

“Chiesa on the other hand has struggled with fitness issues following his move to Anfield from Juventus last summer. The Italy international started just one Premier league game for Slot’s side.”

Liverpool’s ambition to remain at the summit of English football is evident. After clinching their 20th league title, the Merseyside club has already secured the signing of Jeremie Frimpong and is close to landing both Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

“Slot intends to keep Liverpool at the top of English football, as evidenced by his near-complete purchases of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.”

With Osimhen in their sights, the Reds seem ready to shake things up in their forward line and the summer window could be decisive.
