Liverpool reportedly agree to sign Wirtz on record-€150m from Leverkusen

Liverpool have reportedly sealed a sensational €150 million agreement to sign German star Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, a deal that would shatter the current British transfer record.

According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen have been ongoing in recent days, and the two clubs have now come to terms.

Wirtz is expected to undergo his medical at Anfield and put pen to paper on his new contract shortly.

Regarded as one of the finest attacking midfielders in the game today, Wirtz played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s 2023-24 Bundesliga triumph.

He followed up that success with a stunning individual season, racking up 16 goals and 15 assists.

The €150m switch would eclipse the £115m Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo, making Wirtz’s move the most expensive in British football history.

Wirtz will be part of a Liverpool squad aiming to defend the Premier League title under new manager Arne Slot.

He’ll reunite with former Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who also recently made the move to Merseyside.
