Former Liverpool boss, Jürgen Klopp, has paid a heartfelt tribute to Diogo Jota, following the tragic death of the Portuguese forward in a car crash in Spain.

Jota, 28, died alongside his brother, André, in the early hours of Thursday in a fatal accident on the A52 near Cernadilla, Zamora.

Taking to Instagram, Klopp expressed his devastation at the heartbreaking news.

“I am heartbroken to hear about the passing of Diogo and his brother André,” the former Liverpool manager wrote.

Klopp extended his condolences to Jota’s wife, Rute, and their children, describing the late striker as more than just a remarkable footballer.

He said, “We will miss you so much! All my prayers, thoughts, and power to Rute, the kids, the family, the friends, and everyone who loved them! Rest in peace.”

Klopp, who brought Jota to Liverpool from Wolves in 2020, coached him for four seasons at Anfield.

Jota represented Portugal 49 times, playing a part in their UEFA Nations League triumphs in both 2019 and 2025.

He was also instrumental in Liverpool’s latest title-winning campaign, contributing six goals and four assists in 26 matches.
