A Magistrate’s Court in Kano State has handed a one-year jail sentence to popular TikTok personality, Umar Hashim, widely known as Tsulange, over charges of public misconduct.

Presiding over the case at the Gyadi Gyadi Court, Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan delivered the verdict after reviewing the complaint brought forward by the Kano State Censorship Board.

Hashim’s arrest in June 2025 followed the release of a controversial comedy skit in which he appeared bathing in public while clad in women’s underwear.

The court deemed the act indecent, ruling that it breached existing laws safeguarding public morality.

Although the sentence stipulates a one-year imprisonment, the court granted an option of a fine, allowing Hashim to pay N80,000 in place of serving time behind bars.

Additionally, the court ordered him to remit N20,000 to the Kano State Censorship Board to offset expenses incurred during the investigation and prosecution process.
