Kano APC plans reassessment after Supreme Court lose

The All Progressives Congress in Kano state has been planning to reassess its strategies to build a better future for the party.

 

The Kano Chapter of the APC resolved to rebuild the party during a special meeting involving some key stakeholders of the party in Abuja on Friday night.

 

The party’s stakeholders convened to review the apex court’s decision on the 2023 governorship election controversy between the party’s flag bearer, Dr. Nasir Gawuna, and Governor Abbas Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

 

Consequently, an agreement was reached during the meeting, to reconvene a bigger stakeholders meeting involving party leaders from all 44 local government areas of the state, which will be held in Kano, on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

 

According to a statement issued by the leadership of the party, the meeting will be chaired by the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

 

During the meeting, the party also acknowledged and commended President Bola Tinubu for his support and commitment to the state and the APC family.

 

The APC further lauded the President’s determination and dedication to the advancement and development of the party in the state and the country at large.

 

The statement reads: “The meeting expressed appreciation to His Excellency President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and love for Kano state and particularly the APC family as well as his resolve and commitment towards the progress and development of the party in the state and the country in general.

 

“The stakeholders meeting also resolved that as a progressive and largest political party in Africa, and in line with the initiative of its national chairman, the doors of the state APC will remain open to wooing new members to the party across the country and in the diaspora at group or individual level.

 

“Also to enhance unity, progress, and development of Kano state, the stakeholders’ meeting expressed commitment to continue to pursue the path of dialogue with individuals, associations, or political parties ready to join the APC

 

“The meeting resolved to convene an elaborate stakeholders’ meeting in Kano to strategize on how to further unite the party for enhanced development.

 

“The meeting also agreed to set up various committees that will chart a new course for the party’s activities.”

 

Appreciating party members for their maturity, support, and patience during the period of the legal battle, the meeting aimed at fostering unity and progress within the party, called on them to remain calm and await the outcome of the expanded stakeholders meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 25, 2024.

 

Among the stakeholders who attended the meeting were the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin; APC Gubernatorial and Deputy Gubernatorial Candidates, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna and Murtala Sule Garo respectively.

 

Also, the Minister of State Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo and Minister of State Federal Capital Territory, Dr Mariya Mahmud Bunkure, were all present at the meeting.

 

Others who also attended are Kano APC chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas; Minority Leader of the Kano state House of Assembly, Hon. Labarin Abdul Madari; serving, and former members of the National and State Assemblies, elder and members of the Gawuna/Garo Campaign Council, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, former Secretary to the Kano State Government/Wazirin Gaya and Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Muhammad Baffa Takai.
