Nollywood actress, Temitope Aremu, has shared the reason behind her decision to reject a movie role, shedding light on the personal values that guide her career choices.
In a recent chat with Potpourri, the thespian revealed she once turned down an offer because it required her to appear nude on screen.
“Yes, I once rejected a role because I had to go naked, which I can never do,” she stated firmly.
Recounting how she found her passion for acting, Aremu said the journey began during her secondary school days.
She often visited Odunfa Caucus to watch actors rehearse, which sparked her interest in the craft.
“Luckily for me, an uncle introduced me to Alhaji Muka Ray, and that was how the journey began,” she said.
Speaking on some of the surprising realities she encountered in the industry, the actress admitted she was taken aback by certain cultural expectations.
“The fact that I had to start kneeling down to greet everyone shocked me. I understand it’s part of our culture, but then it was just too much on our side,” she recounted.
On the issue of morality among young girls in the society, Aremu urged a more balanced perspective and discouraged laying the blame solely on mothers.
According to her, parenting goes beyond strictness and requires divine intervention.
“No, you just have to pray for God’s grace when training a child. I have learnt that it’s not about being strict alone; you can only try your best and pray to God,” she advised.
