Popular Nigerian comedian AY Makun has firmly denied reports suggesting he regrets the end of his marriage to his estranged wife, Mabel, or that he is seeking reconciliation.
In a post shared via Instagram, AY dismissed the circulating rumours and clarified that he has no intention of getting back together with Mabel.
He also issued a stern warning to those spreading false narratives, stating he would pursue legal action against platforms or individuals involved.
He wrote, “My attention has been drawn to a series of false, incessant, and insensitive social media posts suggesting that I am in a state of regret and seeking reconciliation in my past relationship. These publications are deliberately manipulative, calculated to mislead the public, and designed solely for traffic and engagement.
“For clarity, I have never authorized or made any such statements. If I wish to communicate my personal position on any matter, I have the platform, the reach, and the credibility to do so directly, not through faceless blogs and rumor-driven platforms. This serves as a final warning: all such false narratives should be disregarded by the public. Moving forward, the appropriate legal measures will be instituted against individuals, blogs, or platforms that continue to publish, promote, or circulate these defamatory stories. Enough of the lies.”
Marital issues between AY and Mabel Makun began surfacing in early 2024, with Mabel hinting at long-standing emotional distress. She later confirmed their separation, citing the need to protect her mental well-being and peace of mind.
While AY acknowledged the collapse of their 20-year relationship, he refrained from sharing in-depth details. By April 2024, both parties publicly confirmed their split, requesting privacy as they continue to co-parent and move forward separately.
