Gunmen have abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power and Oyo State APC governorship aspirant, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin children in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday morning around the Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, causing panic among residents.
A witness told reporters that the victims were seized while leaving their home in Elewura, Challenge, en route to the expressway when armed men intercepted their vehicle and took them away forcefully.
Confirming the development, a media aide to Adelabu, Femi Awogboro, said the attack happened in the Elewura axis of Challenge.
According to him, “Adelabu’s younger sister and her twin children, Peter and Paul, were abducted earlier today by armed men.”
He added that the family members were on their way out of the area when they were ambushed and whisked away by the attackers.
The abduction comes amid a series of recent kidnapping incidents in parts of Oyo State, including the abduction of over 40 teachers and students in Oriire Local Government Area in May.
Reacting to inquiries, the spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the information had not yet been independently confirmed at the time of filing this report.
“I cannot confirm this incident right now; please bear with us while we verify the details,” he stated.
Security concerns have continued to rise in Ibadan and surrounding communities following repeated attacks linked to armed groups targeting residents and public figures.
