A visitor identified simply as Gregory tragically lost his life on Friday evening after collapsing within a lodge at the Niger State Government House in Minna.

According to a statement released by the Niger State Police Command, Gregory had arrived at the lodge to visit Sammy Adigun, the chairman of Niger Food Security Systems and Logistics Company Limited. However, upon being informed that his host was not available, he reportedly became distressed and fell ill shortly after.

Police spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident, saying the event occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on August 2.

“A report of a suspected sudden death was received from the Chief Security Officer of Government House, Minna. It indicated that a guest, identified as Gregory, suddenly became unconscious while waiting in one of the lodges,” DSP Abiodun stated.

He further disclosed that police officers from the GRA Division responded promptly and transported Gregory to the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna, where medical personnel later confirmed his death.

“Medical experts were contacted immediately, but unfortunately, the victim was declared dead before help could reach him,” he added.
