Gary Linekar aplogizes to Victor Osimhen after Liverpool heroics

Former Barcelona striker Gary Lineker has publicly apologised to Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen for previously questioning his character.

Lineker admitted he was wrong in his past assessment of the Nigerian striker following Osimhen’s standout performance in Galatasaray’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League earlier this week.

Osimhen, who netted the decisive goal and earned the Man of the Match award at RAMS Park, played a crucial role in securing the Turkish champions’ memorable win against the Premier League holders.

In the aftermath of the game, Lineker took the opportunity to withdraw his earlier remarks about Osimhen, made shortly after the forward sealed a four-year move to Galatasaray during the summer transfer window.

“I need to apologise to Victor Osimhen. I remember that I intimated that he goes missing sometimes, and I believe that is completely not the case,” Lineker said on his The Rest is Football podcast alongside Micah Richards and Alan Shearer.

“So, Victor, if you are listening, I’m sorry about that. You should not spread rumours about these things, so my bad on that.”

Osimhen will now look to maintain his fine form when Galatasaray clash with Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig this weekend.
