Mohamed Salah cemented his legendary status in English football by winning the PFA Men’s Player of the Year award for a record third time.

The Liverpool talisman was rewarded after spearheading his club’s Premier League title triumph and topping the charts for both goals and assists.

Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey collected the Women’s Player of the Year prize, her first, following a season where she inspired the Gunners to European glory.

The evening also highlighted emerging stars, with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers named Men’s Young Player of the Year and Arsenal’s Olivia Smith crowned Women’s Young Player of the Year.

Across the lower leagues, standout performers were also honoured. James Trafford, now of Manchester City but outstanding in the Championship with Burnley, took home the second-tier award. Wycombe Wanderers’ Richard Kone earned recognition as League One’s best, while Bromley’s Michael Cheek secured the League Two accolade.

In addition, the PFA unveiled the prestigious Team of the Year squads for the Premier League, Women’s Super League, Championship, League One, and League Two—celebrating the finest players across English football in 2025.

PFA Merit Award — 2025 Recipients

Sir Gareth Southgate — Former England men’s national team manager, celebrated for guiding the team to back-to-back European Championship finals and revitalizing the national side.

Emma Hayes OBE — Former Chelsea manager and current head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team. Hayes’ legacy includes transforming the women’s game in England with multiple WSL titles and her advocacy for women’s health in sport.

These merit awards are distinct from the on-field performance awards, they’re given for long-term impact and service to the sport, rather than player or manager performance in a single season.
