Fulham have moved a step closer to signing Nigeria international Chibuike Nwaiwu after agreeing personal terms with the defender as negotiations with Trabzonspor continue.
The Premier League side have made the 22-year-old centre-back one of their priority defensive targets for the summer transfer window and are keen to complete the move despite seeing two bids rejected by the Turkish club.
According to Foot Mercato, Nwaiwu has accepted a four-year contract with Alvaro Arbeloa’s team, with discussions now focused on reaching an agreement over the transfer fee.
Trabzonspor are reportedly holding out for at least €30 million for the Nigerian defender, who arrived from Wolfsberger AC in January.
Since joining the Turkish outfit, Nwaiwu has made an immediate impact, featuring in 21 matches while scoring three goals and registering one assist.
