Nigeria’s Super Eagles wrapped up their two-match friendly tour in Turkey with a 2-2 draw against Jordan on Tuesday, in a game that ended on a tense note after Alex Iwobi was sent off late on.
Jordan struck first in the 17th minute through Mousa Tamari, whose well-worked free-kick routine caught Nigeria off guard.
The Eagles responded nine minutes later when Moses Simon fired a composed volley into the bottom-right corner to level the score.
Nigeria then went ahead before halftime as Emmanuel Fernandez marked his full debut in style.
Left unmarked inside the box in the 41st minute, Fernandez calmly converted from close range to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
Early in the second half, Adebayo Adeleye came on for Francis Uzoho after the goalkeeper was forced off with an injury following a clearance.
Although Nigeria looked the more threatening side after the restart, Jordan found a way back into the match in the 77th minute, scoring the equaliser to deny the Eagles victory at the Mardan Sports Complex.
The game took another twist in stoppage time when Iwobi was shown a straight red card for a retaliatory shove after being fouled during a counterattack.
The incident sparked a heated confrontation involving players from both teams.
Having failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Nigeria used the friendlies in Turkey as part of their build-up to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
