Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger recently freed from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos, is still weighing her options on whether to take legal action against the airline.

Her lawyer, Adefunke Maria, disclosed this during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

According to Maria, Emmanson is focusing on her recovery following the incident and subsequent detention.

“On the way forward, whether Comfort will allow sleeping dogs to lie, she will inform us,” the lawyer explained.

“She is a full-grown adult. If she decides to press civil charges for compensation, she will let us know. For now, she just needs to rest and put herself together.”

Maria also accused the airline’s staff of recording the altercation and sharing the footage online, describing the act as “unprofessional and unacceptable.”

The dispute stemmed from an altercation between Emmanson and a flight attendant on an Akwa Ibom–Lagos flight last Sunday. Viral videos showed a scuffle inside the aircraft as security officials tried to restrain her, as well as footage of her confrontation with ground staff at the Lagos airport, which drew public criticism.

While some Nigerians condemned her actions, others faulted the flight attendant for allegedly blocking her from disembarking.

Following her arrest, Emmanson was arraigned in court and remanded in prison.

However, on August 13, the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, ordered the withdrawal of charges against her and the lifting of a lifetime ban on her from Nigerian airlines.
