Flamingos arrive Morocco ahead U-17 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s Flamingos have touched down at their official base in Rabat as they gear up for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Under the guidance of Bankole Olowookere, the team wrapped up their pre-tournament preparations with a thrilling 3–2 win over Paraguay in Casablanca on Tuesday evening.

The Flamingos wasted no time asserting themselves, taking the lead within the first two minutes.

Goalkeeper Elizabeth Boniface delivered a precise long ball to captain Shakirat Moshood, who set up Mariam Yahaya.

The forward made no mistake, deftly chipping the Paraguayan keeper to give Nigeria an early advantage.

Paraguay responded in the 15th minute after a defensive lapse from Christiana Sunday allowed them to level the score against the run of play.

Nigeria regained momentum just before halftime, capitalizing on another defensive mix-up that enabled Yahaya to score her second goal in the 44th minute.

She then completed a sensational first-half hat-trick a minute later, courtesy of a brilliant pass from Kaosarat Olanrewaju.

Despite Paraguay pulling one back late in the game due to another defensive error, the Flamingos held on for a hard-fought victory.

Drawn in Group D, Nigeria will kick off their campaign against Canada on Sunday, October 19, before facing France three days later, and concluding the group stage against Samoa on October 25.
