Former Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has been selected to assist during the draw ceremony for the qualification series of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The draw is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 19 May, in Cairo, Egypt, at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association.
Troost-Ekong will participate alongside former Côte d’Ivoire winger Max-Alain Gradel, legendary Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El Hadary and ex-DR Congo star Trésor Mputu.
The Confederation of African Football is expected to conduct the draw for the 48 nations involved in the qualification campaign for the tournament.
The teams will be divided into 12 groups, with the top two sides from each group qualifying automatically for the 2027 AFCON finals.
The tournament itself will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from 19 June to 17 July, 2027.
Although the three East African nations have already secured automatic qualification as co-hosts, they will still compete in the qualifiers.
In groups containing any of the host nations, one additional team will qualify for the finals.
The 2027 edition will make history as the first Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by three countries.
It will also mark the return of the competition to East Africa for the first time since 1976.
