Former Manchester City, Chelsea and England forward, Raheem Sterling, has reportedly been arrested in Hampshire over allegations of drug driving, dangerous driving, possession of a Class C drug and failing to provide a specimen.
According to The Sun, the 31-year-old was detained by Hampshire Police after a single-car accident involving his Lamborghini on the M3 motorway in England.
The vehicle is said to have struck the motorway barriers, though no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Confirming the development, Hampshire Police issued a statement, saying, “We received a report just before 9 a.m. on Thursday of a Lamborghini colliding with a barrier near the Minley Interchange on the southbound M3. No other vehicles were involved, and there were no injuries.”
The statement further noted, “A 31-year-old male driver from Berkshire was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, dangerous driving, possession of Class C drugs, and refusal to provide a sample. The investigation is ongoing, and he has been released on bail.”
Sterling began his professional journey after joining Liverpool from QPR’s academy in 2010 before establishing himself as one of England’s standout attackers.
A move to Manchester City in 2015 brought major success, with the winger helping the club secure several domestic titles. He later featured for Chelsea and Arsenal before joining Feyenoord on a free transfer in February.
At international level, Sterling earned 82 appearances for England and scored 20 goals. He is engaged to Paige Milian, and the couple have two children together.
Commenting on the challenges Sterling has faced in recent years, a source close to the player said, “He was a prolific English international who has steered the England squad to significant heights over the last decade and has been made to feel worthless and forgotten about in recent years. The psychological strain that has put on him is immeasurable.”
