Europa: Porto beat Stuttgart 2-0, face Nottingham Forest in quarter-finals

FC Porto secured a 2-0 victory over VfB Stuttgart to book their place in the Europa League quarter-finals, delivering a composed and clinical performance to see off the German side.

The breakthrough came through William Gomes, who finished from close range after a well-worked attacking move, giving Porto a deserved first-half lead and control of the contest.

Porto maintained their dominance after the break and were rewarded again in the 72nd minute when Victor Froholdt doubled the advantage, putting the result beyond doubt.

VfB Stuttgart saw their slim hopes of a comeback disappear shortly after, as Nikolas Nartey was sent off in the 77th minute following a second yellow card.

The win sets up a quarter-final clash for Porto against Nottingham Forest, who progressed earlier after a penalty shootout victory over FC Midtjylland.
