Beşiktaş claimed a valuable 3-2 away victory over Hoffenheim in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, October 15, 2026, with South Korean striker Hyeon-gyu Oh delivering an outstanding performance in Sinsheim.
The Turkish side recovered from a goalless first half to secure all three points at the PreZero Arena, with Oh scoring twice and providing an assist to inspire the visitors to victory.
Amir Murillo opened the scoring for Beşiktaş in the 60th minute after a corner-kick situation, with Oh contributing to the move that led to the goal.
Hoffenheim responded eight minutes later when Fisnik Asllani restored parity in the 68th minute, finishing a move created by substitute Tim Lemperle.
However, Beşiktaş regained the advantage four minutes later as Oh finished a counterattack in the 72nd minute following a pass from Junior Olaitan.
The forward struck again in the 79th minute, converting İlhan Fakılı’s delivery to extend the visitors’ lead to 3-1 and put them in a commanding position.
Hoffenheim refused to surrender and reduced the deficit in the 88th minute through Koki Machida, who headed home a cross from Vladimír Coufal.
Despite the late pressure from the German side, Beşiktaş held on to secure their second-half comeback and an important away win.
Oh Leads Beşiktaş to Victory
Oh was the standout performer, contributing to all three of Beşiktaş’s goals through two strikes and an assist.
The striker registered seven shots during the encounter and created two significant scoring opportunities, underlining his influence on the visitors’ attacking performance.
He also won 11 duels and drew seven fouls before being substituted in the 85th minute.
Leandro Trossard also contributed creatively, recording five key passes, while Murillo capped his performance with the opening goal.
Beşiktaş captain Orkun Kökçü played the first half but was replaced by Fabio Miretti at the interval due to an injury.
Beşiktaş Dominate Despite Less Possession
Although Hoffenheim enjoyed 54 per cent possession compared with Beşiktaş’s 46 per cent, the visitors proved more effective in front of goal.
Beşiktaş recorded 19 shots against Hoffenheim’s 13, with five attempts on target compared with the hosts’ three.
The Turkish side also created five big chances, more than double Hoffenheim’s two, while recording an expected goals figure of 3.37 against their opponents’ 1.06.
Beşiktaş’s ability to exploit spaces on the counterattack proved decisive, particularly after the interval, as they repeatedly threatened the Hoffenheim defence.
The hosts, meanwhile, struggled to convert their possession into clear-cut opportunities, despite winning more aerial duels and making several attempts to mount a late comeback.
Oh’s two goals ultimately made the difference, allowing Beşiktaş to leave Germany with three important points in their Europa League campaign.
