The largest carrier on the continent, Ethiopian Airlines, has announced the addition of an extra daily flight from Lagos, set to begin on July 1.
This move increases the airline’s weekly flights out of Nigeria’s commercial capital to 14, offering travellers enhanced connectivity to various African and Asian destinations.
The airline explained that the additional frequency will not only expand travel options but also enable quicker connections, thereby significantly reducing overall flight time for passengers.
The new schedule includes four evening departures at 10:00 p.m. and three early morning departures at 5:40 a.m.
Commenting on the development, the Area Manager of Ethiopian Airlines in Nigeria, Mrs. Firiehiwot Mekonnen, stated, “We are offering these extra benefits to reward our loyal passengers as we offer more flights and options out of Lagos. These extra flights help us improve service delivery and reduce costs for travellers. Most of our passengers will now arrive at their destinations faster.”
In addition to the expanded schedule, Ethiopian Airlines is offering special incentives tied to the new flights.
Passengers can enjoy more baggage allowance, particularly those flying to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Madras, and Dubai. Frequent flyers also stand to benefit with the opportunity to earn double miles on their journeys.
“The 14 weekly flights from Lagos do not just offer more flights, it comes with extra benefits. More baggage allowance. You can also get double double miles if you fly with us,” Mrs. Mekonnen added.
The airline’s expansion from Lagos underscores its commitment to the Nigerian market and its broader strategy to remain Africa’s leading international airline.
