Ekiti State University Ado-Ekiti, has achieved a significant academic milestone with the National Universities Commission granting full accreditation to 18 of its academic programmes.

This development follows the NUC’s accreditation exercise held between October and November 2024.

The university’s Directorate of Information, in a statement issued by its Head, Bode Olofinmuagun, on Monday, disclosed that the approval was formally communicated via a letter dated April 30, 2025.

The letter was signed by Abraham Chundusu, the Acting Director of Accreditation, on behalf of the NUC Executive Secretary.

According to Olofinmuagun, the latest accreditation reinforces EKSU’s status as a leading institution among Nigeria’s state-owned universities, referencing the university’s ranking in the 2025 Times Higher Education report.

The accredited programmes span various disciplines, including Administration and Arts. Specific programmes with full accreditation include M.Sc. Reacting to the development, the Vice Chancellor of EKSU, Professor Babatola Ayodele, described it as “a dream fulfilled,” crediting the achievement to the “dedicated efforts of both academic and administrative staff.”

“This accreditation is a testament to our commitment to delivering quality education and meeting the expectations of today’s knowledge-driven society,” Prof. Ayodele said.

He expressed appreciation to the Ekiti State Governor and Visitor to the university, Biodun Oyebanji; the Chancellor, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe; and the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Akin Oyebode, for their unwavering support and contributions to the institution’s progress.

“This recognition further positions EKSU to meet the educational aspirations of Nigerian youths and provide training in innovative and high-demand disciplines,” the VC added.
