Donnarumma wasn’t responsible for my injury, says Bayern’s Musiala

Bayern Munich star, Jamal Musiala, has shed light on the serious injury that has sidelined him since the summer, explaining the circumstances and his road to recovery.

The 22-year-old German international sustained both a broken fibula and a dislocated ankle following a heavy collision with Italy’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Speaking to BILD, Musiala stressed that the incident was purely accidental.

“He looked for the ball, it wasn’t intentional. He texted me straight away, saying everything’s fine. These things happen in football,” Musiala said, absolving Donnarumma of any blame.

The midfielder admitted that being forced to watch Bayern from the sidelines has been tough, but he remains focused on returning stronger.

“Watching my teammates from the stands is painful. I already know that when I return, I’ll do what I love. It’s my daily motivation.

“I want to return to the pitch when I’m truly ready. There’s no point in rushing. The important thing is to be fully fit, especially with the World Cup in mind.”

Musiala underwent surgery immediately after the incident and, according to the club, will be out of action for several months while completing his rehabilitation.
