Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has revealed plans to return to school, announcing that he intends to pursue a master’s degree in political science at a university in the United Kingdom next year.
The award-winning singer made the disclosure during a livestream that began trending on Wednesday, where he opened up about his academic ambitions outside music and entertainment.
Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, said he already holds a Bachelor of Science degree and is now looking to further his education abroad.
“I want to do my Master’s next year in the UK,” he said during the livestream, adding that the programme would be a one-year course in political science.
Addressing speculation from some fans, the singer clarified that he would not be enrolling at Adeleke University despite his family’s connection to the institution.
When asked whether the postgraduate programme would take place at Adeleke University, Davido simply responded, “No.”
The singer has often shown interest in governance and political affairs, especially during election periods in Nigeria, a development many fans believe influenced his decision to study political science.
Following the announcement, several fans took to social media to praise the artiste for prioritising education alongside his successful music career.
