Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been announced as one of the headline performers for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert in Los Angeles, United States.
The announcement was made by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which confirmed that the concert will take place on Wednesday, June 10, as part of a global series of build-up events ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
According to FIFA, the Los Angeles edition of the concert will feature American DJ Diplo’s Major Lazer alongside Davido, with more artists expected to be unveiled in the coming days.
In a statement, FIFA said the event is designed to celebrate football and global culture through music across the tournament’s three host nations — the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
“Los Angeles will host a vibrant celebration featuring Diplo’s Major Lazer and Davido, the first confirmed performers for what promises to be a memorable night of music, football, and culture,” FIFA stated.
The governing body added that the concert will be held at the Crypto.com Arena, with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time and live broadcasts beginning at 6:00 p.m.
FIFA also explained that the Countdown Concert series will connect simultaneous performances across multiple cities in North America, including Mexico City and Toronto, all linked through live streaming.
“The Countdown Concert series celebrates the passion, unity, and cultural connections across three countries and around the world that define the FIFA World Cup 2026,” said Manolo Zubiria, FIFA World Cup 2026 Chief Tournament Officer.
He further noted that the Los Angeles event will serve as a major entertainment showcase just days before the tournament kicks off in the United States.
“Just two days before the opening match in the United States, Los Angeles will put on an unforgettable show featuring top talent in one of the world’s premier entertainment capitals, bringing together music, football, and fans in a global celebration,” he added.
FIFA disclosed that ticket sales for the concert will begin on Wednesday, June 3, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, while fans worldwide will also be able to stream the event via FIFA’s digital platforms, including TikTok.
The full concert and behind-the-scenes content will be made available the following day on FIFA’s streaming platform, VuMe Live.
