Davido mocks Edo gov with WAEC result over Adeleke jibe

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to remarks by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, mocking his uncle and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Davido appeared to hit back at the Edo governor on Friday by posting what was purported to be Okpebholo’s West African Examinations Council result on his Instagram Story.

The singer did not attach any caption to the post, but the timing of the upload was widely seen as a response to Okpebholo’s comments about the Osun governor.

Okpebholo had criticised Adeleke during an All Progressives Congress campaign rally in Osun State, where he was supporting the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, also known as AMBO.

The Edo governor mocked Adeleke’s penchant for dancing, questioning whether the Osun governor was paying enough attention to governance.

He said, “Before somebody signs paper, he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance.”

Okpebholo also told voters to accept financial inducements from political opponents but vote for the APC candidate in the August 15 governorship election.

Davido has openly backed his uncle’s bid for another term and has participated in campaign activities ahead of the election.

He recently called for a peaceful, free and fair election in Osun State.

The singer’s latest social media post has since generated reactions online, with many interpreting it as a direct response to the Edo governor’s criticism of Adeleke.
