Afrobeats star Davido has condemned a viral video showing a bullying incident involving students of Igbinedion Secondary School in Edo State.
The singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, reacted to the circulating footage on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, expressing outrage over the incident.
“F***ing animals… so disgusting,” Davido wrote while reacting to the video shared widely on social media.
The viral clip shows two male students physically assaulting another student who was lying on the ground. In the footage, one of the attackers was seen dragging the victim by his school uniform and stepping on his chest as the boy cried in pain.
A third student who recorded the incident could be heard pleading with the attackers to stop.
The video triggered widespread condemnation online, prompting swift disciplinary action by the school management.
According to a statement issued by the Edo State Police Command and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikioyedem, the school authorities had already expelled the students directly involved in the bullying.
The police added that the student who filmed the incident had been suspended by the school.
The statement also noted that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Monday Agbonika, had directed the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area to commence a full investigation into the matter.
“The Edo State Police Command totally condemns acts of bullying, violence or intimidation among students,” the statement read.
“Anyone found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law.”
The command further assured the public that investigations had begun and that all those involved would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the law, taking into account their respective ages.
