The Nigeria Customs Service has urged Nigerians to disregard a recruitment notice currently circulating on social media, describing it as fake and unauthorised.
The Service said the recruitment information did not originate from the Nigeria Customs Service and advised members of the public to be cautious of unverified messages, particularly those relating to job opportunities.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Customs Service urged Nigerians to obtain information about its activities, including recruitment exercises, only from its official communication channels.
The Service said, “The Nigeria Customs Service wishes to alert members of the public that the recruitment notice currently being circulated on social media is false and was not issued by the Service.”
It further advised Nigerians to “disregard the publication and rely solely on information shared through the official communication platforms of the Nigeria Customs Service.”
The agency identified its verified social media platforms as its Facebook page, as well as its official accounts on Instagram, X, Threads and TikTok, all operating under the handle @customsng.
The warning comes amid growing concerns over fraudulent recruitment advertisements in Nigeria, with scammers often using fake government job offers to deceive job seekers and demand money from unsuspecting applicants.
The Customs Service therefore urged members of the public to always verify recruitment information through its official platforms before sharing or acting on it.
The agency added,“Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and verify information before sharing.”
