In a ruling on Monday, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja struck down a fundamental human rights suit filed by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra against the Federal Government.

According to The PUNCH, Kanu had sought N1 billion in damages, alleging that the Department of State Service and its Director General violated his right to a fair hearing by interfering with his interactions with his lawyers while in detention.

However, Justice Omotosho found that Kanu failed to provide credible evidence to support his claims, including allegations of denied access to his lawyers and eavesdropping by DSS officials.

The court held that Kanu’s claims were unsubstantiated, leading to the dismissal of the suit.
