Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca, has described their 2-0 triumph over Los Angeles FC in the Club World Cup opener as a “very good result,” praising the overall performance of his team.
Goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez in either half secured a comfortable win for the Premier League side against the MLS outfit.
“Very good result. At this stage of the season it is also normal that you have to manage different kinds of things. Overall the performance has been good,” Maresca told Channel 5.
The match also saw striker Liam Delap make his debut for Chelsea. The former Ipswich Town forward made an immediate impact, coming off the bench to assist Fernandez’s goal.
“The good thing about Liam is he knows the way we want to play so the process is quite quick,” Maresca said.
In addition to Delap, young midfielder Dario Essugo was also given an opportunity to feature, with Maresca highlighting the importance of giving chances to emerging talent.
“Also we gave a chance to Dario Essugo, which is another player we have, so it’s good for both of them,” he added.
