Cristian Chivu has officially bid farewell to Parma, signaling the end of his tenure with the club as he prepares for a high-profile return to Inter Milan, this time as head coach, stepping in for Simone Inzaghi.

Chivu, who enjoyed a decorated playing career at Inter Milan with three Serie A titles and a historic UEFA Champions League triumph in 2010, is now set to lead the Nerazzurri from the dugout.

Taking to Instagram, the Romanian expressed heartfelt gratitude, “I thank the club, staff, players and fans for having believed in me and our project,” he wrote.

“Together we overcame obstacles and wrote a page (in Parma’s history) which will remain in my heart.”

Reports suggested Chivu has penned a two-year deal with Inter worth €2.5 million annually, succeeding Inzaghi following the club’s disappointing 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

With his exit confirmed, Simone Inzaghi has taken the reins at Saudi Arabian powerhouse Al-Hilal and is set to guide them into the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off next weekend.
