The Christian Association of Nigeria has unveiled plans for a five-day peace crusade in Plateau State as part of efforts to foster unity and address rising insecurity across the state.
The programme, tagged “Jos Jesus Crusade,” is scheduled to hold from December 17 to 21, 2025, at St. John’s College, opposite the Polo Field in Jos.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, CAN Chairman in the state, Rev. Dunka Gomwalk, stressed the need for Christians to unite in prayer and collective action at a time when security concerns continue to unsettle communities.
“We believe that as the body of Christ, we are called to unity, especially in these times of security tension in our state,” Gomwalk said. “It is essential that we reflect on our actions and turn back to God.”
Gomwalk, who was represented by the CAN Secretary, Julius Arabo, explained that the crusade would serve not only as a spiritual gathering but also as a platform for reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
“The crusade will offer us an opportunity to reconcile with the Creator, to have peace with one another, and to ensure that the message of Christ is spread throughout the state,” he added.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the Central Planning Committee, Rev. Joshua Mape, expressed optimism that the programme would yield positive spiritual and social outcomes for Plateau residents.
“We are trusting God that the crusade will be a great harvest,” Mape said. “We believe there will be breakthroughs, especially salvation and healing, and we see this crusade as a unifying factor that will bring the church together.”
He noted that despite existing divisions within the church community, the anticipated turnout and shared purpose of the crusade are expected to promote reconciliation and strengthen ties among various Christian groups.
Mape added that the event will feature gospel preaching, worship, healing, and deliverance sessions. It will be open to the public at no cost.
“To ensure wide participation, transportation arrangements have been made, with buses provided to convey people to and from the venue,” he said. “We expect attendees from all walks of life, students, families, and individuals.”
The organisers emphasized that the main aim of the crusade is to bolster peace and unity in Plateau State while encouraging citizens to embrace nonviolence amidst ongoing security challenges.
