Brighton and Hove Albion produced a sensational late comeback to defeat Premier League title holders Liverpool 3-2 on Monday night, reigniting their slim hopes of qualifying for Europe.

Conor Bradley marked his fresh Liverpool deal in style, providing the assist for Harvey Elliott’s early opener inside the first ten minutes.

But the Seagulls hit back confidently, with Yasin Ayari completing a slick team move to draw the visitors level.

Just before the interval, Liverpool regained the lead when Dominik Szoboszlai’s angled cross looped over Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen and into the net.

After the break, Mohamed Salah squandered a golden opportunity to match the record for most Premier League goal involvements in a season, steering a close-range effort wide following a pinpoint pass from Cody Gakpo.

Brighton’s bench proved decisive, as Kaoru Mitoma made an immediate impact. After Alisson parried a strike from Danny Welbeck, Mitoma reacted swiftly to control the loose ball and fire home the equaliser.

Momentum stayed with the hosts as fellow substitute Jack Hinshelwood sealed the dramatic win just two minutes after entering the pitch, propelling Brighton into eighth place and keeping their European ambitions flickering.
