Chidozie Awaziem has set his sights on lifting the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria in 2025.
The Super Eagles recently missed out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, falling 5-4 on penalties to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the African playoff final.
Determined to make amends for that setback, Eric Chelle’s side will aim to secure their fourth AFCON crown in Morocco.
Awaziem revealed that he has moved past the World Cup disappointment and is fully focused on helping Nigeria claim continental glory.
“Winning the AFCON is my focus with Nigeria. I don’t like to dwell on not qualifying for the World Cup. For us, for the country, for our loved ones, we have to correct this mistake,” Awaziem told the FC Nantes official website.
The versatile 28-year-old defender was included in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the AFCON 2025 finals on Tuesday and has previously featured in the Super Eagles’ 2019, 2021, and 2023 AFCON campaigns.
