Arsenal defender, Riccardo Calafiori, is expected to miss Italy’s upcoming World Cup qualifier due to a hip injury, reports Metro.
The 23-year-old has been one of Arsenal’s standout performers in defence this season, helping Mikel Arteta’s side maintain a four-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
Currently on international duty with Italy, Calafiori trained separately from his teammates on Wednesday because of a hip problem.
Italy face Moldova away on Thursday evening, and the defender has stayed with the squad in the hope of recovering for their final Group I clash against leaders Norway in Milan on Sunday.
At present, Italy sit second in Group I and must overtake Norway to avoid a play-off for a spot at next year’s World Cup.
