“The Selection Board exercise is scheduled to run from 23 November to 11 December 2026. The SSCC programme offers qualified Nigerian civilians and serving military personnel the opportunity to be commissioned as officers into the Combat Arms (Infantry and Armour) and Combat Support Arms (Artillery, Engineers, Signals, and Intelligence).

“Successful candidates who complete training are typically commissioned as Second Lieutenants on a 15-year short service commission,” the Nigerian Army stated.

The recruitment programme provides an opportunity for eligible civilians and serving military personnel to join the Army’s officer cadre through specialised military training in combat and support roles.

Applicants who submitted their applications between mid-August and October 17, 2026, have been advised to visit the recruitment portal to confirm their names and familiarise themselves with the reporting requirements.

Those shortlisted are also expected to come with original copies of their credentials, including educational certificates, birth certificates or age declarations, state of origin certificates, National Identification Number and Bank Verification Number slips, as well as duly signed photo-slips and guarantor forms.

The Army further urged applicants to prepare for the different stages of the selection process, which include medical examinations, physical assessments and interviews.

It also cautioned candidates against falling victim to recruitment fraud, warning them to avoid unofficial websites, agents or individuals demanding money in exchange for assistance.

The Army stressed that all stages of its recruitment exercise are free and advised applicants and members of the public to rely exclusively on its official recruitment website for authentic information.
