APC sweeps chairmanship elections in Epe, Eredo, Ibeju-Lekki, says LASIEC

The All Progressives Congress has emerged victorious in the chairmanship elections held across Epe, Eredo, and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Areas of Lagos State, according to official results announced by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission.

Election results were declared late Saturday night, July 12, 2025, at the respective collation centres located in each of the three local government secretariats.

In Epe Local Government Area, the Returning Officer, Professor Habeeb Sanni, announced that the APC candidate, Ms. Surah Animashaun, secured 34,819 votes, significantly defeating her closest rivals — the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which garnered 1,535 votes, and the Labour Party with 675 votes.

“Having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes, I hereby declare Ms. Surah Animashaun as the duly elected chairman of Epe Local Government,” Sanni declared at the collation centre.

For Eredo Local Council Development Area, Dr. Afolabi Onasanya, who served as the Returning Officer, announced that the APC candidate, Mr. Monsuru Akinloye, emerged winner with 25,017 votes, far ahead of the PDP which scored 424 votes.

“By virtue of the votes secured and meeting the legal criteria, Mr. Monsuru Akinloye is hereby declared the duly elected chairman of Eredo LCDA,” Dr. Onasanya announced.

In Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Mr. Bankole Oduntan, the Returning Officer, declared APC candidate Mr. Sesan Olowa as winner with 59,342 votes. The PDP polled 740 votes, while the Labour Party managed only 45 votes.

“Following due electoral processes and securing the majority of valid votes cast, Mr. Sesan Olowa is hereby declared the duly elected chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government,” Oduntan stated.
